The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a large and luxurious SUV with three rows of seats and upscale features throughout the cabin. The Grand Wagoneer L is the longer wheelbase version of this SUV, offering more legroom and cargo capacity. For the 2023 model year, the Grand Wagoneer may have added this L version to its lineup, but it carries over no major changes to its features.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Series I has 20-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free liftgate, a tow hitch, a panoramic sunroof, and retractable power running boards. It also comes with an adaptive air suspension, and the optional Convenience Group adds adjustable roof rail crossbars. Step up to the Series II for 22-inch wheels, and you still get the option for the adjustable roof rail crossbars. The top-level Series III has updates in the cabin, and the Obsidian adds blacked-out trim elements.
Engine
Jeep offers the Grand Wagoneer with a choice of two engines. The base is a 6.4-liter V-8 that generates 471 horsepower and gets 455 pound-feet of torque, or you can get a turbo six-cylinder gas engine with 510 horsepower. Both work with an eight-speed automatic transmission and come standard with four-wheel drive.
Performance
The new high-output six-cylinder engine is smooth and powerful. It moves the large SUV with confidence, and the turbo boost comes quickly. The power from this engine makes passing on the highway easy. The ride in the Grand Wagoneer stays smooth due to the standard air suspension, which delivers a comfortable but firm ride.
Interior
If you're looking for an SUV with tons of space in the cabin, you'll get it with the Grand Wagoneer. All three rows have plenty of head and legroom for adults, and the second-row seats slide and tilt, making it easy to access the third row. It comes standard with leather upholstery, four-zone automatic climate control, driver's seat memory settings, and heated and ventilated front seats. Massaging front seats are also standard, along with a heated second row. Power-adjustable pedals make finding a comfortable driving position easy, and passengers will appreciate the memory settings that come with the Series II.
Technology in the Grand Wagoneer starts with a 12-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and a 19-speaker stereo. Integrated navigation is also standard. The Rear Seat Entertainment Group adds two 10.1-inch screens, Amazon Fire TV, and a USB video port. For even better sound, a 23-speaker stereo comes in the Obsidian.
Safety Features
The 2023 Grand Wagoneer comes with a long list of standard driver aids. These include forward collision warning with automatic braking, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, hill-start assist, and an automated parking system. You'll also get a 360-degree surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Convenience Group adds a digital rearview mirror, infrared night vision, front cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and an enhanced version of the adaptive cruise control system. The Series II adds a digital rearview mirror, and it comes standard with traffic sign recognition and a driver attention warning system.
