2023 RAM 1500

The entry-level RAM 1500 trim is the Tradesman. It has 18-inch steel wheels, black bumpers, automatic headlights, and heated, power-adjustable side mirrors. The Big Horn model adds 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and chrome bumpers to this list, while the Rebel model adds LED exterior lighting, a power-sliding rear window, and an upgraded suspension. Step up to the Laramie model for more chrome exterior trim, LED headlights, and power-folding side mirrors, or to the Longhorn for 20-inch wheels, side steps, upgraded LED headlights, and a spray-in bedliner.

The Limited model builds on the Longhorn with power-deployable running boards and air suspension for all four wheels. If you choose the TRX model, you'll get flared fenders, a performance exhaust, and upgraded brakes.

The engine lineup for the RAM 1500 starts with a 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine that puts out 305 horsepower. A 5.7-liter V-8, which delivers 395 horsepower, is available, or depending on which model you choose, you can get a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The TRX comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that generates 702 horsepower.

All the RAM engines work with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and you can get rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with most models. When equipped with a gooseneck hitch and the gas V-8 engine, the maximum towing capacity of this truck is 12,750 pounds.

There's room for up to six people in the larger RAM 1500 cabs, and rear-seat passengers enjoy plenty of legroom. The Tradesman model comes with vinyl upholstery that's easy to clean, but stepping up to the Big Horn gets you cloth upholstery. Moving up to higher trims adds interior features such as power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. You can also get a heated steering wheel and power-adjustable pedals.

The technology features start with a five-inch touchscreen in the Tradesman, but you'll get an 8.4-inch touchscreen in the mid-level trims and a large 12-inch touchscreen in the higher-end models. The Uconnect infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Satellite radio and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also available as extra upgrades.

The 2023 RAM 1500 comes standard with a rearview camera, trailer sway control, and electronic stability and traction control. Stepping up from the Tradesman to one of the higher trims adds the option for equipment groups with added safety systems such as front and rear parking sensors, reverse braking, and a digital rearview mirror. Additional safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with mitigation, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera system are all available for the mid- and high-level models.
