If your engine is running hotter than it should, it's time to visit your Chrysler dealer. Your engine's temperature is controlled by the radiator and the cooling system. If the temperature is going up, you may need a radiator repair. These are a few possible causes of a steadily increasing engine temperature. more Broken Water Pump Coolant has a huge impact on the temperature inside your engine. This liquid is continually pumped through your engine, and its absorbs heat. This heat is produced by numerous fast-moving engine components and combustion in the cylinders. The heat's final destination is the tubes in your radiator. Once inside the tubes, the heat is removed from the coolant by heat exchange with the outside air. The movement of the coolant is dependent on the water pump. The pump forces the coolant through the engine in a continual loop until the temperature drops. If the water pump fails, the coolant can move at all. The pump failure isn't obvious, but you'll see a rapidly increasing engine temperature. Once we replace the pump, your engine temperature will return to normal. Failed Radiator Fan We've seen how cooling works when your car is moving. The rapid heat removal by airflow over the tubes is only possible when your Chrysler is moving. If you're stuck in gridlock or idling next to the sidewalk, airflow through the radiator grille is reduced. Under these circumstances, the cooling system depends on the radiator fan to remove the heat. The fan is part of the radiator casing and is located at the back of the radiator. When the engine temperature rises, the fan switches on and blows across the back of the tubes. This fast air movement removes the heat from the coolant and pushes it out through the grille.
