1. Stop by Landis Valley Village & Farm and Take Part in its Harvest Days Annual Event

Located near the small city of Lancaster and less than 30 miles northeast of downtown Red Lion, Landis Valley Village & Farm is one of the best destinations to explore this fall, as it offers plenty of fun activities for visitors of all ages. One of the most popular events is the annual Harvest Days, which takes place during the second week of October and features cooking and craft classes, pumpkin picking, live music, and traditional local food.

Encompassing an area of about 100 acres, this living history museum features a visitor center, a pottery shop, and permanent exhibitions showcasing life in the area during the 18th and 19th centuries. During the fall season, you can also go apple harvesting and learn how homemade apple butter is made.

2. Go Apple Picking and Try Some Delicious Cider at Orchard Valley Farm

A family-operated farm located just 10 miles southwest of the Red Lion city center, Orchard Valley Farm is another great destination to visit with your family during the fall season. Covering nearly 100 acres, this place grows pumpkins and 22 different varieties of apples and is open to the public every day of the week. Before you visit this farm, we recommend you give them a call, ask what’s ripe, and learn about the current field report.

Driving from Red Lion to Orchard Valley Farm takes about 20 minutes via route PA-214. Once you make your way here, you can not only head to the fields and pick up some apples and pumpkins but also check out the visitor center and try some delicious apple cider.

3. Try Some Local Food at the National Apple Harvest Festival
