Located in the southern part of Pennsylvania, the city of Red Lion, PA, is close to some of the largest and most popular urban destinations in the region, making it an excellent base to go on exciting day trips with your family or a group of friends. 1. Baltimore, MA

Located just 50 miles south of downtown Red Lion, the city of Baltimore is one of the best day trip destinations for residents of the area. The largest city in the state of Maryland, Baltimore is a true cultural and economic hub, as well as an important tourist destination. Getting to the Baltimore city center from Red Lion takes about an hour by car, driving along route I-83.

Although Baltimore is not a small city, a day trip is enough for visitors to check out its main attractions, most of which can be reached on foot from the downtown area. Once you make your way here and find a parking spot, a good place to start exploring is the Baltimore Basilica, located in the northern part of the downtown area. From here, you can walk south along Preston Gardens Park and head to the Inner Harbor district.

2. Philadelphia, PA

The most populous city in the state of Pennsylvania, and one of the most important urban areas in the region, Philadelphia is a place where you will hardly run out of things to do and places to visit. This cosmopolitan city of more than six million inhabitants is home to important landmark buildings and historical sites, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Eastern State Penitentiary, City Hall, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and College Hall.

Driving to downtown Philadelphia from the city of Red Lion takes about two hours by car, making it an excellent day trip destination for visitors looking for a bustling urban area full of activities for both kids and adults. To get here, head east along route I-76 for about 100 miles. Once you are in the city center, a great way to start exploring is by going for a walk along Market Street.

3. York, PA

Known by locals as the White Rose City, York is located just eight and a half miles northwest of Red Lion, making it an excellent destination for a short trip or a weekend escape. With a population of a little over 200,000 in its urban area, York is home to numerous well-preserved historic structures and landmark buildings. One of the most famous spots is the Golden Plough Tavern, dating back to 1741.
