2020 Ram 2500In addition to the many improvements made to the new 1500 half-ton pickup, the 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon includes better towing and payload ratings, more power, and exciting technology exclusive to Ram vehicles. Here are just a few features of the Ram 2500 Power Wagon you will want to know about.

Exterior

The new Ram 2500 Power Wagon sits higher and has a different metal content than previous models. There is more high-strength steel in its frame and it sports an aluminum hood. These two changes contribute to the truck shedding 143 pounds: lower weight equals greater fuel efficiency.

Added insulation, active noise cancellation technology, new engine mounts, and new anti-vibration devices combine with a class-leading 0.409 coefficient of drag to produce the quietest HD cabin Ram has ever created.

Perhaps the most noticeable exterior change is the large grille, which is now 30% bigger than previous models to provide better cooling. It also includes three new headlight designs: an LED projector lamp with active turning that allows for 15 degrees of travel as you turn your steering wheel, a full LED-reflector style, and a basic halogen lamp.

Powertrain

Expect to see the 6.4-liter gasoline V-8 engine with the 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Previous models saw this engine generating 410 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, and while specifics have not been released, we think it’s reasonable to expect an upgrade of more torque and power. The eTorque mild hybrid system is also something to keep an eye out for, providing instant throttle response and additional torque at lower rpm.

Technology

The 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon offers a variety of multimedia touch screens including the 3-, 5-, and 8.4-inch options. An available 12-inch vertical touch screen, introduced in 2019, allows you to divide the screen in half, running two independent applications at the same time. AndroidAuto and Apple CarPlay both come standard with the 8.4- and 12-inch screens.

In addition to up to three 115-volt, 400-watt outlets, you will also find five USB port throughout the cabin. A full-color, 7-inch, 3D-animated display is available for the driver’s gauge cluster that allows you to configure how you want your truck’s data to be displayed.

Finally, the Uconnect multimedia system includes a 17-speaker Harman Kardon 750-watt premium sound system, including an 8-inch subwoofer for optimal sound while driving.

Safety

The majority of the 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon safety features center around hauling and towing. A payload/cargo camera assists in monitoring your bed’s load with active gridlines available for hooking up gooseneck trailers and fifth-wheels. Back up to a trailer with ease thanks to the rearview camera that displays both sides of the trailer on the screen.

Mirror-mounted, rear-facing spotlights assist in illuminating surroundings when backing up. Those looking for additional visibility should consider the available remote exterior camera that can be placed in various locations, including behind or on a trailer.
