Codorus State Park

Occupying 3,500 acres in the rolling hills of York County, Codorus State Park is one of Pennsylvania’s top destinations for outdoor enthusiasts. Lake Marburg is located inside the park and offers visitors 26 miles of shoreline. It’s a popular spot for birdwatching, fishing, and motorboating. If you enjoy scuba diving, check out the secluded Sinsheim Cove which is located on the east side of the park. Certified divers are welcome to explore the cove as long as they are accompanied by a diving buddy and bring along a diving flag.

The park’s campground features 190 campsites that can accommodate tents or RVs. Campers have access to flush toilets, warm showers, and electric hook-ups. In the winter months, you can enjoy sledding and cross-country skiing.

Warehime-Myers Mansion

In 1911, Clinton N. Meyers, a founder of the Hanover Shoe Company, began construction on a mansion that would take three years to complete. This grand neo-classical residence featured a marble-floored solarium, enclosed porches with beveled leaded glass, and a bowling alley in the basement. When the Meyers family relocated to Montana, they sold the mansion to a neighbor, William Warehime. Mr. Warehime generously donated the mansion to the Hanover Area Historical Society, which now operates tours of the estate.

Now known as the Warehime-Myers Mansion, the stunning structure is in excellent condition, with many of its original features still intact. Visitors to the mansion can get a glimpse of what life was like for one of Hanover’s most prominent families in the early 1900s. Be sure to enjoy a stroll through the grounds and view the beautiful plant life and statuary.
