How do you plan to spend your summer in the Red Lion, PA, area? Start your list of fun things to do with our four favorite local summer activities.

1. Community Yard Sale

Red Lion will hold its annual community yard sale on June 16 and 17. The sale takes place all over town, but be sure to stop by Sunflowers and Smiles Consignments at 10 West Broadway for a free hot dog and a soda. The store will also have special drawings and giveaways for visitors. If you want to sell your own stuff during yard sale weekend, it’s the only time of year when you don’t need a permit to hold this type of event in Red Lion.

2. The 46th Annual Street Fair

Shop from local vendors, enjoy live entertainment, and pick up food and beverage at the 46th Annual Street Fair. The Red Lion Area Business Association holds this yearly community event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 12. You can download the official map to check out the vendors and plan your day at the festival. The fair occurs rain or shine and it will be set up along Main Street and Broadway.

3. Themed Nature Walks at Nixon Park

You can explore the local landscape with the guidance of a naturalist from the York County Park System. Upcoming dates include Creek Walk on June 4, Tremendous Trees on June 11, Father’s Day Walk on June 18, Summer Solstice on June 25, and Colors of Nature on August 20. You don’t need to register in advance to attend this interesting event, where you’ll get a chance to spot and learn more about local plants, flowers, birds, and animals.

The park is open from dawn to dusk each day, but the nature center closes at 4:30 p.m.
