Watching an incredible sunrise or sunset can be awe-inspiring, especially when seen from the perfect vantage point. For those living in York County, you’ll find many spots where you can snap Instagram-worthy sunrise and sunset photos. Hopefully, the following locations will provide you with amazing photographs that increase your follower count and inspire those who already love your content.

  1. High Point Scenic Vista & Recreation Area

Located on top of a hill, Highpoint Scenic Vista & Recreation Area makes a great place to see the sunrise or sunset. It encompasses 79 acres of meadowland and overlooks the Susquehanna River. When you can catch the sunlight reflecting off the water as the sun rises higher in the sky, you’re sure to get tons of likes just moments after you post your photo. If you go to watch the sunset, you’ll be able to capture some great colors that are sure to catch the eye of everyone who sees your photo.

  1. Chickies Rock

Although Chickies Rock is not technically in York County, its location provides an incredible view of the area. This vantage point gives you a view of the county from across the Susquehanna River. So if you prefer to catch the sun setting over the river as opposed to rising over it, this is the place to be. During the day, the greenery of the trees contrasts beautifully against the blue of the water. However, as the sun sets, the water takes fiery colors while the hill and surrounding foliage become dark and silhouetted.

This combination of lighting makes for Instagram-worthy photos every time. It’s a popular destination, but keep in mind you will have to hike up the hill to get to the overlook. Don’t worry, it will be worth the effort.

  1. Otter Creek Campground

When you stay at the Otter Creek Campground, the opportunity to snap both sunrise and sunset photos is right at your fingertips. You’ll be surrounded by trees, so the lighting will look great shining through the leaves and trunks when the sun rises or sets. No matter whether you take your photos right from the campground or you hike to the Urey Overlook, they’re sure to become favorites on your Instagram feed.

  1. Maple Lawn Winery & Cider House

Watching the sunset (and snapping exceptional photos of it) from the Maple Lawn Winery & Cider House is a memorable experience. Not only will you get post-worthy sunset photos, but you’ll also have the opportunity to try some of the delicious wine and cider offered here. In fact, make it a truly great sunset photo by perfectly positioning your glass of wine in it to create an Instagram post that will gain a heart from everyone who sees it.

  1. Your Own Backyard

York County is a beautiful place to live and offers an endless number of great photo-taking spots. Honestly, your own backyard may be one of the best places of all to snap a sunset or sunrise photo that’s worthy of adding to your Instagram account. The next time you head out when the sun is dipping low or just starting to show itself, look around and see if you can frame out the perfect shot.

We look forward to seeing your Instagram sunsets and sunrises soon!
