Chrysler Pacifica, Ram 1500 Receive Top Honors in Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards

For generations, drivers have relied on the Chrysler and Ram brands to deliver reliable, high-quality vehicles that also stand out when it comes to style. These top automotive brands have also earned top honors in the industry for their impressive minivans and pickup trucks. Both the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica and the Ram 1500 top the Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy lists for their respective segments. Let's explore the features that make these dynamic vehicles worthy of these prestigious awards. What Is the Best Buy Award? The Consumer Guide Best Buy Award is given to the car, truck, minivan, or SUV that is determined to be the best in its class. Consumer Guide staff members test, evaluate, and analyze vehicles from the top manufacturers in the county. They factor in features like safety technology, connectivity technology, and comfort amenities. Performance and power are also taken into consideration. Reviewers end up driving more than 100,000 miles to determine how each vehicle operates in off-road environments, busy city streets, and on the highway. It's only after this rigorous testing that the Consumer Guide writers make their final decision for each segment. more 2021 Ram 1500 The 2021 Ram 1500 is the proud recipient of the Consumer Guide Best Buy Award for the Large Pickup segment, continuing the model's run as the most awarded light-duty pickup truck in the United States. In fact, this is the 13th consecutive time that the Ram 1500 has topped the list. One standout feature that caught the attention of Consumer Guide reviewers is the truck's multifunction tailgate. Offering multiple configurations, this state-of-the-art feature transforms the Ram 1500 into the perfect pickup for work or play. With a maximum load weight of 2,000 pounds, the multifunction tailgate can accommodate all sorts of cargo. Reviewers couldn't ignore the Ram 1500's powerful V-6 engine or its impressive fuel economy ratings. They were also impressed by the Ram 1500's six trim levels and multiple customization options that allow drivers to create the perfect pickup truck. The Ram 1500's spacious cabin featuring premium seating materials and soft-touch finishes also factored into the innovative pickup truck being named a Best Buy. 2021 Chrysler Pacifica For the Minivan Category, Consumer Guide chose the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica as its Best Buy. This is the fifth year in a row that the Pacifica has received this honor. Reviewers took note of the Pacifica's all-wheel-drive system, which is now standard in all trim levels. They also appreciated the Stow 'N Go second-row seats that make it easier for third-row passengers to access seating and provide additional storage space. An all-new trim level, the Pinnacle, offers high-end amenities, best-in-class horsepower, and an extensive list of standard safety features. This top trim level, along with the hybrid Pacifica's impressive performance, played a significant part in the Pacifica earning Best Buy in the minivan segment. As you can see, the Ram 1500's and Chrysler Pacifica's honors are well deserved. Take a test drive today and experience these impressive and award-winning vehicles for yourself.   Image via ramtrucks.com

Take a Road Trip to Wrightsville

Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, is a quaint and historic town located on the Susquehanna River's western banks. The town, named for early pioneer John Wright, is famous for the burning of its bridge during the Civil War. It is also home to several other interesting sites such as the Wrightsville Lime Kilns. Here are some things to see and do on a road trip to Wrightsville. Zimmerman Center for Heritage In 2019, Lancaster and York Counties were designated as the Susquehanna National Heritage Area, which has its headquarters in the Zimmerman Center for Heritage. In the restored mid-18th century riverfront house, you can learn about the river history and see Susquehannock Indian artifacts and the Susquehanna River Art Collection. The house and grounds are open to the public, and guided tours are offered on the weekends. The center offers short hikes into Native Lands County Park for you to discover how the Susquehannock culture lived. At the riverside pavilion, you can explore the river's nature and how it has impacted the communities over the years. more Samuel S. Lewis State Park For the best views of Wrightsville and the surrounding countryside, Samuel S. Lewis State Park features the 885-foot Mount Pisgah, the highest point in the area. With its mowed grass fields and mature woods, the park offers spectacular panoramic vistas of the Susquehanna River Valley and fertile farmland. Eating and Drinking No visit to Wrightsville is complete without sampling some of the local hostelries. The Moon Dancer Winery, Cider House, and Taproom on Klines Run Road offers beautiful surroundings for enjoying the finest Pennsylvania wines, ciders, and craft beers. Take a tour of the vineyards and cellars before relaxing by the great room's fireplaces or on the extensive patio. The John Wright Restaurant is housed in a converted riverside silk mill and warehouse on Walnut Street. The glass-enclosed timber dining room offers stunning views of the river at one of its widest points. The restaurant has outdoor seating options and a seasonal pizza patio. It's very popular, so you are advised to make a reservation in advance. Burning the Wrightsville Bridge Adjacent to the John Wright Restaurant's lawns on Walnut Street is a wayside marker close to the river that describes one of Wrightsville's most renowned events. The burning of the bridge happened during the Civil War in 1863 when the Confederate Army attempted to clear the bridgehead to open the way to Harrisburg and Philadelphia. As the Union militia drew back on the Columbia side of the river, they burned the bridge. Wrightsville was the furthest north the Confederate troops were able to penetrate. Wrightsville Lime Kilns The lime industry played a large role in Wrightsville's development, and before the Civil War, the town had up to 23 lime kilns. The remains of some of the kilns, which were used to burn limestone to turn it into lime, can be seen on North Front Street. This small but fascinating town has a wealth of history attached to it. Just strolling the streets among the historic buildings gives you a sense of Wrightsville's heritage.   Image via pexels.com

2020 Jeep Compass

5 Reasons Drivers Love the 2020 Jeep Compass

Nestling midway between the subcompact Renegade and larger Cherokee, the 2020 Jeep Compass comes as a comfortable, off-road vehicle. It has a beefy styling and the go-anywhere do-anything aura that helps it stand out from the current rivals in the subcompact crossover segment. While there haven't been a major upscale from the previous model's features, the new Jeep has one of the best infotainment systems in the segment. 1. Excellent Off-Road Capabilities Like any other Jeep, the new Compass impresses when put through its paces. The entry-level trims come standard with front-wheel drive, but off-road-oriented four-wheel drives are available. All trims are powered by a 2.4-liter inline-4 engine that offers 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The nine-speed automatic transmission and quick upshifts in the 4WD versions make the SUV a decent off-roader despite not having a low-range gear like the Wrangler. more 2. Impressive Performance The new Compass represents a consistent effort to take on the mainstream with its four-wheeling. Only a few SUVs outside the Jeep are as adept as this vehicle, and while most rivals offer all-wheel-drive, hardly any is equipped with stellar 4X4 capabilities. Drivers can opt for the upgraded 4WD system that features low-range gearing and the Selec-Terrain traction management system. A fully equipped four-wheel-drive Compass can tow up to 2,000 pounds, which is a slight defeat from the Wrangler and Toyota RAV4, both of which tow up to 3,500 pounds. Ground clearance ranges from 7.8 inches at entry-level to 8.5 inches in upper Trailhawk trims. 3. Extended Safety Features Compared to the current compact SUV rivals offering common standard features, the new Compass extends its safety upgrades to every trim. Upscaled safety options include rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and rear parking sensors. They further include rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, and lane-keep assist. 4. Comfortable Handling The new Jeep feels mostly composed behind the wheel. It provides a comfortable ride thanks to smooth steering, acceptable-ground clearance, and quick upshifts during transmission, especially in the 4X4 nine-speed transmission models. The Jeep's Active Drive Low four-wheel system and hill descent control boost drivers' confidence when tackling difficult terrain. 5. Generous Cargo Space The Compass offers 27.2 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats. While this may be deemed too low in the segment, folding the rear seat increases the storage capacity to 59.8 cubic feet. The convenience is also unmatched, with numerous cubbies throughout the cargo floor, tie-downs mounted in the rear, and wide cargo area. Folding the front passenger seat allows you to carry long items. In conclusion, the new Compass offers great value, given its affordable pricing. It boasts an excellent infotainment system, outstanding off-road capabilities, and a spacious back seat. There's a generous selection of packages to improve its workout capabilities and fine-tuning the interior. Visit Thornton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to get your new Jeep Compass. We will assist you to browse through our inventory and select the ideal car that best suits your needs.   Image via Jeep.com

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

3 Impressive Features of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We are willing to bet you have a friend or family member who has been a Grand Cherokee owner as long as you've known them. They keep coming back because brand identity keeps impressing them. The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the next in a long line of fan favorites - it has many features that impress. Here are our top three. 1. Standard Trims That Get Better and Better Have you noticed that you can visually identify the Grand Cherokee without having to think about it? Although every new Grand Cherokee model year looks slightly different, that “instant recognition” factor remains constant. The number and scheme of trim levels remain constant in 2020, but there are some enhancements. First up, Jeep's Active Safety Group bundle of advanced driver safety features is now standard in the base Laredo model in addition to the pricier trim choices. Laredos now feature forward collision warning, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, and auto emergency braking. That's big news for smaller budgets. In 2020, Limited and Trailhawk trims include (as standard) the popular single-pane moon roof. And there's now a new headlight option for Laredo, Limited, and Trailhawk packages.  New Owners can choose bi-xenon high-intensity headlamps, daytime running lights, and LED foglights. more 2. Power You Can Rely On You don't have to splurge on the top trim level to have great power and towing capability. All of the Grand Cherokee engines rise to the occasion. Budget-conscious buyers will be pleased with any of the more “modest” engine packages. The 6.4-liter V-8 option boasts 475 hp and has plenty of torque for towing. There's also a 5.7-liter V-8 “Hemi” that provides 360 hp and improves fuel economy a little. Finally, the 3.6-liter “Pentastar” V-6 is your choice when commuting is a significant factor, with the best fuel economy of the lot (19 in the city and 26 on the highway). These packages are all capable of towing a little more than 7000 pounds. If you prefer top-of-the-line specs, the Trackhawk's supercharged, high-torque V-8 will make you giddy. This beast delivers up to 707 horsepower (hp) and the torque to go with it. You can tow around 7500 lbs with this setup. 3. Let Jeep Infotain You The infotainment options in the 2020 Grand Cherokee lineup will allow you to leave your home and get on the road seamlessly. Depending on the trim package you choose, you can have your car warmed up and set up before you even leave your house. The Sirius XM Guardian system, paired with the UConnect App, is a game-changer for connectivity on the road. You can use your voice (through Alexa or Hey Google) to start your car (if equipped with remote start) and add a navigation destination while you're pouring a travel mug of coffee. And this is just the beginning. You can have a mobile hotspot, integration with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and a lot more. Just three of many reasons you should visit Thornton Jeep Ram soon and be impressed with the level of technology, style, and performance that Grand Cherokee owners love.   Image via Jeep.com

Dodge Lineup

It's Muscle Car Season With Dodge Challenger's 50th Anniversary Celebration

In a market that's increasingly selling mostly trucks and SUVs, it's quite surprising that the muscle car isn't just surviving but even flourishing. A muscle car like the Dodge Challenger, for instance, achieved record-setting third-quarter sales in 2019. Launched in 1970, the iconic Challenger is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In celebration, Dodge launched a 50th Anniversary Edition model, which arrived at dealers a bit earlier this year. Here's a short overview of the iconic Challenger and what the 50th Anniversary Edition has to offer. more The Dodge Challenger The Dodge Challenger is a vehicle that has largely shaped the muscle car industry in the U.S. Today, it's one of only a few muscle cars that has stayed true to its 1970 origins. In an era where efficiency has become key, this muscle car is still all about brute horsepower, attitude, and customization. Apart from fact that the Challenger can be optioned in an array of wild paint colors, styling add-ons, and exciting graphics packages, it offers throaty V-8s that can kick out as much as an unbelievable 797 horsepower. The 50th Anniversary Edition The 50th Anniversary Appearance package, as the name suggests, is all about aesthetic details. You can opt for this package with four Challenger trims, namely the GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, and R/T Scat Pack Widebody. As the anniversary package adds aesthetic upgrades only, all 50th Anniversary models retain the powertrains of each of the four available trims. In celebration of the fact that the first Challenger came to the market in 1970, Dodge decided to produce 70 units of this special edition in each color and trim, and each model comes with a dashboard placard indicating its number out of 70. Unique Exterior To celebrate the golden age of the muscle car and also the Challenger's golden anniversary, Dodge brought back the iconic Shaker hood with this special edition, as well as a brand-new exterior paint color, aptly named "Gold Rush." You can, however, also have your 50th Anniversary model in six other available colors: TorRed, Go Mango, F8 Green, Frostbite, Sinamon Stick, and Hellraisin. The exterior color is juxtaposed by a Satin Black hood, roof, fuel filler door, and rear deck, which makes for an exciting two-tone look. In addition, this special-edition model receives 50th Anniversary badging and 20-inch wheels with a special paint finish, called "Gold School." Upscale Interior The interior of the anniversary model also receives several exclusive touches, such as Nappa leather with Alcantara-suede inserts upholstery with sepia-accent stitching and real carbon-fiber accents throughout the cabin. The sepia stitching, which reminds of the old-school era in which the muscle car was born, is repeated on the dashboard and steering wheel. Another retro styling cue is the unique instrument cluster that features a yellow stripe around the gauge dials. As is the case with the exterior, the interior features the 50th Anniversary logo, for instance, on the floor mats. The Challenger 50th Anniversary pays homage to a time gone by with retro styling cues, while simultaneously retaining the modern conveniences and performance features of the available four Challenger trims. 2019 Ram 1500

Experience the Power and Performance of the 2019 Ram 1500

The 2019 Ram 1500 is the recipient of multiple awards including Truck Trend's 2019 Pickup of the Year, MotorTrend's 2019 Truck of the Year, and the Texas Auto Writers Association Full-Size Truck of the Year, to name a few. These awards prove that the Ram 1500 has the power and performance to tackle any task you throw its way. Power The 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 is available in four trim levels: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, and Laramie. All four trims are available in three configurations: quad cab or crew cab with a 6-foot 4-inch box or a crew cab with a 5-foot 7-inch box. They are available in two-wheel or four-wheel drive, depending on your needs. All models of the Ram 1500 are powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 24-V VVT eTorque engine as standard, which pumps out 305 horsepower. For increased power, opt for the available 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi MDS VVT engine or 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi MDS VVT eTorque engine, which gets 395 horsepower. The engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic 850RE transmission and an eight-speed automatic 8HP75 transmission is also available. more Wheels The Tradesman trim level rides on 18-inch steel painted wheels as standard and 18-inch premium paint cast wheels are available. The Tradesman HFE sports 20-inch aluminum chrome-clad wheels as standard. The Big Horn/Lone Star has 18-inch wheels as standard and they are available on the Tradesman and Laramie. The Laramie comes standard with 18-inch aluminum base painted wheels and 20-inch premium painted wheels with inserts are also available. Towing The Ram 1500 has a reduced weight, which allows for increased towing capacity and payload. Hauling your boat, trailer, or equipment is an easy feat for the Ram 1500 as it can tow up to 11,470 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,710 pounds. Even when hauling heavy loads you'll enjoy a smooth ride thanks to the suspension system, which creates a riding experience that feels like you're in a sedan rather than a powerful truck. Package Options Several packages are available to give your Ram 1500 even more power when towing or hitting the back roads. The Trailer-Tow Group includes power trailer-two mirrors with manual fold-away that help improve visibility and trailer brake control, which electronically operates the trailer's brakes in unison with the truck's brakes. The Off-Road Group package includes 275/55R20 OWL all-terrain tires, electronic-locking rear axle, front extra HD shock absorbers, fuel tank skid plate, front suspensions skid plate, a full-size spare tire, and hill descent control, which utilizes electronic brake control to help you maintain a safe speed when descending rocky hills. The Protection Group includes a front suspension skid plate, steering gear skid plate, fuel tank skid plate, and transfer case skid plate. Safe Performance With power and performances comes additional safety concerns. Staying safe on the road is aided by the many standard and available safety features in the Ram 1500, such as brake assist, multiple air bags, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, Parkview rear back-up camera, rain brake support, ready-alert braking, and trailer sway damping. With plenty of power and performance where it matters, the 2019 Ram 1500 is a truck that's just as ready for the pavement as it is the back roads.
